Creating an Express Entry (EE) profile does not automatically enroll you in every provincial or regional immigration program — how each one works differs.
- Each province runs its own Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with its own eligibility criteria and application process. You need to check each province's PNP website individually and apply separately if you want to be considered.
- Your EE profile can still surface to provinces automatically through Express Entry-linked PNP streams — many provinces can view and reach out to EE candidates who meet their criteria without you applying to each one directly, but this isn't guaranteed and doesn't replace applying to programs with their own separate intake (like AIPP successor programs or Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot streams).
- For programs outside the EE-linked PNP streams (regional/pilot programs with their own job-offer and application requirements), you generally need a distinct, separate application in addition to your EE profile.
In short: your EE profile increases visibility to provinces, but it is not a substitute for actively applying to specific PNP or regional programs with their own requirements.
