An Express Entry applicant at the Ready-for-Visa (passport submission) stage had a common Indian-passport quirk: the entire name printed in the 'Given Name' field, with the surname field blank. The EE profile, however, had required a surname — so the whole name sat in 'Surname' there. Which version goes on the VFS webform?
- Fill the VFS form as per your Express Entry profile. That's the record IRCC will match against. If the VFS form refuses a blank field, put the same name in both sections.
- Don't over-weight the VFS form. A member put it plainly: the name on the VFS form is hardly a concern — VFS's job is only to transport your passport to the embassy. The identity that matters is the EE application itself.
- No CoPR impact was expected from the VFS form's name layout; members treated this as a logistics formality, not an identity issue.
- Expect a wait on passport return. A single FSW applicant in the same thread sent their passport 24 Jan 2022 (received by the New Delhi office 27 Jan) and it was still 'in process' weeks later — members compared notes rather than panicking. (Timings are 2022-era; current turnaround varies.)
