Step-by-Step

The Express Entry profile doesn't let you directly edit your passport number once you've received an Invitation to Apply (ITA), so a passport change after that point needs to be handled outside the normal profile fields.

What group members advised:

Attach both the old and new passports to your application, along with a Letter of Explanation (LOE) describing the change.

Alternatively, add an LOE to your application package, or notify IRCC of the new passport details through the webform rather than trying to edit the profile field.

Either route gets the updated passport number on file without requiring the (unavailable) in-profile edit — the key is making sure IRCC has a clear paper trail connecting your old and new passport numbers.
