If you're on a work permit in Canada, have uploaded your photo and details to the PR portal, but haven't yet received your eCOPR, traveling outside Canada (even briefly) carries real risk according to group members.
Why this matters: during the eCOPR stage, your application effectively relies on you having testified to continuous physical presence in Canada. If you leave the country during this window, IRCC will have a border-crossing record showing you left — which can directly contradict what you attested to and put your application at risk.
What was suggested if travel is unavoidable:- If IRCC's helpline has advised you to email them and request they pause (hold) processing of your eCOPR before you travel, and resume it after you return, that is a legitimate route some members had heard of — but treat it as an exception process, not routine.
- If the travel isn't a genuine emergency, the safer default is to simply wait until you receive your PR card before leaving the country.
This is a case where following official IRCC helpline guidance (send the hold-processing email) is important — don't just travel and hope it isn't an issue.
