If your PR card arrives with an error like the wrong photo, group members suggested trying faster routes before defaulting to the standard mail-in correction process:
- Call the PR Card helpline immediately and explain the issue — one member reported their friend's replacement card arrived within about 2 weeks this way, much faster than the standard mail-in timeline.
- Try emailing the designated IRCC agent email as an alternative contact point for requesting a photo correction.
- Contacting your local Member of Parliament (MP) can also help escalate the issue — one member was advised by their MP's office to visit Service Canada in person as a possible additional avenue.
- If none of the faster routes work, complete Form IMM5531E and mail it in as the standard correction process, understanding it will likely take longer.
If you have upcoming travel plans, it's worth trying the phone/email/MP routes first, since the standard mail-in fix can take considerably longer.
