PGWP eligibility depends on completing a program that meets IRCC's in-person study requirements, so a Hyflex (hybrid online/in-person) delivery model can be a red flag if you're not physically in Canada for enough of the program.
- Check your college's own in-person policy, not just the program brochure. In this thread, Cambrian College required students to be physically in Canada starting from the January intake onward, even for programs marketed as Hyflex/hybrid.
- A program description saying 'blended' doesn't guarantee PGWP safety — some blended programs still require online coursework even while you're physically in Canada, which is fine for PGWP purposes as long as the majority of your program is in-person/in-Canada, per IRCC rules current at the time of posting.
- If in doubt, consider switching sections/intakes. One group member suggested choosing an alternate offering of the same program that has a stronger in-person component, based on their own experience in the same program.
This is time-sensitive: colleges and IRCC have changed in-person/PGWP rules multiple times since the pandemic, so always verify current requirements directly with your college's international office and IRCC's official PGWP eligibility page before enrolling.
