There is no single, unified PNP application — each province runs its own streams with its own criteria, so the starting point is research, not a form:
- Get your foundational documents ready first, before picking a province. Complete an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) and take IELTS or CELPIP — most PNP streams require both, and having them done lets you check your eligibility accurately against any province.
- Then go province by province. Visit each Provincial Nominee Program's official website individually (Ontario, BC, Alberta, Manitoba, the Atlantic provinces, etc.) — there is no central hub that lists every province's criteria, and each has different occupation lists, point systems, and stream types (Express Entry-aligned, human capital, employer-driven, etc.).
- Match your profile to a stream's specific requirements — some PNP streams need a job offer or employer sponsorship, others don't; some are tied to your Express Entry profile, others are base (non-Express Entry) streams with separate processing. Check the exact criteria for each stream you're considering rather than assuming they're interchangeable.
- Apply directly through the province once you find a matching stream, following that province's specific process (which may include an Expression of Interest before a formal application).
PNP requirements and open streams change often, so always confirm current criteria on the province's official site rather than relying on older posts.
