For applicants who received a PNP nomination letter and ITA and are considering moving to another province before the PR application is finalized:
- Don't move before the decision — members were unanimous that it's not advisable regardless of the reason. A PNP nomination carries an intent-to-reside commitment to that specific province.
- Moving early can be treated as misrepresentation. If the nominating province's PNP office becomes aware, they can flag it to IRCC, which may act to cancel the PR grant, or create problems later when renewing PR status or applying for citizenship.
The safe approach is to remain in the nominating province until PR is finalized, and only plan a move afterward — PNP commitments are checked against your actual residence, not just your paperwork.
