If your admission at one college is cancelled and you're admitted to a different college for a later intake, an already-issued study permit does not automatically transfer.
What group members advised:- Your study permit is tied to your Designated Learning Institution (DLI) — the specific school you were approved to attend. You cannot simply switch schools and use the same permit.
- You can only defer your intake at the same DLI using your existing permit — not change to a different institution.
- If you change your DLI (i.e., enroll at a genuinely different college), you must reapply for a new study permit and pay all associated fees again. The existing permit tied to the original school won't cover a different institution, even if it hasn't expired yet.
Bottom line: a study permit issued for one college cannot be reused for a different college — if your admission changes to a new DLI, expect to file a fresh study permit application.
