For applicants unsure whether study permit supporting documents need to be notarized before uploading:
- Most documents can simply be scanned and uploaded as-is — notarization is generally not required for the bulk of your study permit file.
- Financial documents are the main exception. If a document needs extra verification (for example, proof of funds), getting a bank stamp on it is usually sufficient — you don't need a notary for this.
- Some applicants choose to notarize specific documents anyway, such as a gift deed used to show funds were gifted to them, as an extra layer of assurance, even though it isn't universally required.
When in doubt about a specific document, check the document checklist for your visa office, since requirements can vary slightly.
