A study permit applicant from Pakistan (applied October 5, 2022) had done upfront medicals, yet the visa officer requested the medical form again. Members who'd seen the same pattern advised:
- This happens — the medical sometimes doesn't link to the file. Members reported identical cases (including Nepalese applicants) where upfront medicals weren't reflected on the application.
- Send the e-medical sheet through a webform. The fix that worked for others: upload the e-Medical information sheet from the upfront exam via an IRCC webform, in addition to responding to the document request. In most cases raising the webform got the record updated.
- A re-medical is sometimes needed. Some members noted that where the webform didn't resolve it, panel physicians recommended redoing the medical — the fallback if the original exam can't be matched to the file.
- Decisions can follow quickly once medicals update. One member observed non-SDS files receiving passport requests within about a week after the medical was updated — though it can take longer. (Timelines here are from the 2022 processing environment.)
