A common worry for students arriving on a study permit is what happens if the fixed deposit (FD) used as proof of funds for a second year of study gets broken before travel.
What group members advised:- A broken FD isn't disqualifying — but bring proof of where the money went. If you've broken the FD, a current bank statement showing the matured amount helps in case an immigration officer asks about it.
- Carry both documents, not just one. Keep the FD certificate as a reference for the original source of funds, and also bring the latest bank statement showing that the matured amount has been credited to your account. Together they show the full picture: the money existed, and it's still accessible.
This is about being prepared for a possible question at the port of entry, not about needing to keep the FD active — officers are mainly checking that the funds you declared during your application are genuinely there.
