It's common for the online application portal to still show 'biometrics not received' for a while after biometrics were actually given at a Visa Application Centre (VFS), which understandably worries applicants about whether they need to do something themselves.
What group members advised:- You generally don't need to upload anything yourself. IRCC updates the biometrics status internally once it's processed on their end — applicants don't manually upload a biometrics confirmation document.
- Check the 'Application Information' section for a Biometric ID and biometrics date, which can appear there even while the main status still reads 'not received' — this is a normal, if confusing, lag between sections.
- If it's been a long time with no update (multiple weeks), consider raising a webform inquiry with IRCC and calling VFS directly to confirm your biometrics were properly recorded and transmitted.
In most cases this is just normal processing delay, not something requiring action, but a webform/VFS call is the right escalation path if the gap stretches on.
